Dainty Obsessions

Real Weddings + Ajla & Noah

Ajla and Noah met as high school seniors through mutual friends. “There was a deep connection between us, that much was evident from the first date,” said Ajla. “Over time our love grew, and just a few months later we had to tell each other what we were both feeling – we were helplessly and undoubtedly in love.”

Fast forward three years, they got engaged as Augustana University students with a romantic picnic proposal by the Sioux River.

From the bride…

I’m an art student and decided to hand-make all of the stationery. I liked being able to add that special, personal touch to our save the dates, invitations, and programs. Also, I am originally from Bosnia, so we incorporated a fun Bosnian dance into our reception. We started with just us and our bridal party holding hands and dancing, and then we had all of our guests come up and join us. We are glad that we included a bit of Bosnian culture in our wedding, and we had a blast watching everyone participate. Another favorite moment was our prayer circle during our ceremony. We had our bridal party and some family members surround us and pray for our marriage. Our last favorite detail was our recessional. Noah rewrote the lyrics to “Unbelievers” by Vampire Weekend, and our talented band rocked it as we happily walked down the aisle. The fact that the lyrics were written by the groom made the experience feel incredibly unique and special.
