Dainty Obsessions

Real Wedding+ Hanna & Joel

Hanna was stubborn and even moved churches after being (lightly) pressured from her family to meet “the cute boy from church.” Thinking she outsmarted everyone, the Dordt College students crossed paths again when her roommate started dating his roommate. After one dinner and realizing how much they had in common, the pair began hanging out and started officially dating. When her family found out, they were surprised, but also thrilled fate had taken the reins.

From the bride ….

We dated through the end of college and began a long-distance relationship as he moved from Hamilton, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta and I moved from Orange City, Iowa to  Denver, Colorado to pursue our careers. In February 2016, I went to visit him in Alberta, and he took me to Banff National Park. That day we walked downtown and he asked if I wanted to look at engagement rings together, so I thought for sure he would propose since he must not have a ring. We then snowshoed up a mountain at beautiful Lake Louise. When we finally got to the top, I turned around and he was on one knee. Turns out he had the ring in his pocket all along and just wanted to make it extra surprising. I said, “Yes,” and it was the best decision I’ve ever made!
